Joe Farrell started his career on Wall Street as an oil trader on the New York Mercantile Exchange. In 1995 he developed and sold his first spec home in Brookville, New York. In 1996, Joe merged his Wall Street expertise, business acumen, and passion for construction to realize a new vision and create Farrell Building Co. in the Hamptons, the most renowned building company on the East End for over 28 years.

Over time, the evolution of Farrell Building to Farrell Companies has been a natural progression based on the trust of his customers and his unique and innate ability to envision space.

Now, with divisions across multiple states featuring custom homes, multi-family rental communities, for sale estates, commercial and storage facilities, Farrell has expanded into a diversified real estate and building platform. Farrell is customer focused, designed to meet client needs as they evolve over time.

BUTCH PAYNE

PRESIDENT

Butch Payne is a lifetime resident of Montauk, New York. A natural outdoorsman with a keen eye for site analysis, construction and the art of site development, Butch immersed himself in the building industry at an early age.

Excavation and site preparation became his expertise, and he cultivated his reputation in local circles as the best in the business. In 2000, Butch started Butch Payne Excavation. Butch and Joe met in 1998 on a Farrell Building Co. job site. A natural alliance in business was solidified by friendship and helped to strengthen the Farrell team, in house self-performing capabilities, and family philosophy. Butch’s company has served as the site expert for every Farrell job since 1998.

In 2014, Butch officially joined the Farrell Building Co. team full-time. Today, serving as President of Farrell Companies he oversees day to day construction and operations. His knowledge and experience in the building industry and broad base of relationships continue to serve Farrell in leveraging buying power and managing resources to ensure smooth, quality first completion of every project in every sector.
